Let's just review, shall we? I leave for the airport imminently and this time, for a trans-atlantic flight back to Vancouver.
In the past nine months, I have:
Waited in 13 airports in 7 countries.
Visited those 7 plus 1 more.
Been to Paris 4 times.
Been to London twice (although the airports more often).
Saw the Tour de France twice!
Learned to drink espresso.
Learned to speak French!
Learned to fait les bis (kisses).
Eaten an amount beyond reckoning of gelato, baguette and nutella.
Grocery shopped at outdoor markets.
Not bought books (many).
Read many books.
Even one in French.
Visited 3 medieval French villages.
Been to Rome, Venice, Istanbul, Bosnia-Herzegovnia, Croatia, Barcelona, Athens, Amsterdam and so many more beautiful, exciting, bizarre and wonderful places.
Met so many beautiful, exciting, bizarre and wonderful people in these places.
Learned to live by myself.
Learned to live with my roommate.
I can't really say how I feel right now, leaving this grand adventure and moving on into the uncertain future. Living in France these past nine months has been too big to wrap up into a tidy learning experience.
Obviously I can never actually finish this list. But it mainly says, I learned, I learned, I learned and I enjoyed myself. And I think that's pretty good.
