That's about the only Croatian I know. It doesn't matter. Dubrovnik is beautiful, beautiful, beautiful. The Old Town is all elegant stoneworks, red tiled roofs and statues of St Blaise, the patron saint of Dubronvik. We did the City Walls walk which had alternately picture perfect views out to sea or picturesque views of the Old Town. It's quite hot (30+) so ending the day swimming in the Adriatic was just what we needed.
Not that everything has been easy. In Paris, we neglected to check the hours of the luggage store in Gare de Lyon (6:15-22:00 in case anyone needs to know) which meant we showed up to pick up our backpacks at 22:15. That was not so pleasant. We took a taxi to our airport hotel, slept for 5 hours, and returned to Gare de Lyon the next morning at 6:15. Then we had to rush over to Orly airport to catch our flight. We got to Dubrovnik safely...until our hostel couldn't find our reservation.
It worked out in our favour though, since they put us up in a rental apartment next door...in a castle. We are staying in a castle. Everytime I go in, I can't quite believe it's real. But that's not unusual here. The sea is unrealistically blue, the city looks like a movie set, and everyone seems to be on a yacht.
Tomorrow we're off to Mostar (Bosnia-Herzegovnia) for a day and then to Split (Croatia) on Thursday. Next time though, I'm planning for more time in Croatia.

ReplyDeleteWe did go to Lokum! I just had limited internet time to describe how wonderful Dubrovnik was. I have tons of photos of all the peacocks wandering around there.
ReplyDeleteI loved Dubrovnik! And yes, the water was an amazing shade of blue.
ReplyDeleteAlso I am very jealous that you are staying in a castle.
