Some introspection - and mountains!

After the Greece and Barcelona trip, I came back to Lyon and actually felt like I came home. It was a bit unexpected but a welcome surprise to feel that complete release of tension allowed by being in a familiar space. I have discovered that, for me, it's a good holiday if I come home exhausted. Or at least, I always have wonderful holidays and I always come home exhausted.

So for a couple weeks, I just did my usual routine in Lyon. The weather was incredibly good: day after day of hot sunshine. It was a fairly contemplative few weeks because, as I realized how comfortable Lyon was compared to the unfamiliar cities I had just visited, it made me think of what else had changed and what else I had learned. I had been so occupied in my first few months here with simply adjusting to a new way of living that this was the first time I reflected on what that way of life was and what I was learning from it.

I went on an overnight trip to Annecy, which is a small town in the Alps on Lake Annecy. It is very beautiful, with still-snow tipped mountains surrounding the turquoise water of the lake and a cobblestoned old town with little bridges crossing and recrossing the canal.
