It seems that my plans have been derailed somewhat. A couple weeks ago, when I got back from England, Marie, my roommate, told me that Mme Martin, my landlady, might be renting out the apartment to her cousin. Said cousin has just divorced and will need somewhere to live.
Things were left uncertain for a couple weeks but today Marie got an email from Mme Martin saying that yes, the cousin will be taking the apartment at the end of July. Because of the national vacation period being August, the cousin will not actually be in residence for part or most of that month, so there is still the possibility that I could stay a week or two in August, or at least leave some things here. I'm going to take Mme Martin up on this as far as I can.
Ideally I would be able to stay in the apartment for the first 3 weeks of August and then maybe even be able to leave a suitcase here after that. I have potential travel plans for the end of August to beginning of September and then others for the mid to end of September, so except for a brief period in between, I don't actually need an apartment.
At the moment though, I'm feeling pretty disappointed about the whole thing. I really really like my apartment and do not want to have to deal with the hassle of finding another place or living out of hostels and hotels for a few weeks. However, on the slightly brighter side, this will save me two months in rent!
Things are still not completely settled but I'll update again when they are.
